Conclusions: More research is in order. We need to learn more about this candle and will have to interview Rev. Tom.
We did find some very suspicious worms near the picture clues. What does this mean?? Inspector Druesoe suspects a possible worm conspiracy...

Ps 89:15
Happy are the people who know the festal shout, who walk, O Lord, in the light of your countenance;
Isa 58:10
if you offer your food to the hungry and satisfy the needs of the afflicted, then your light shall rise in the darkness and your gloom be like the noonday.
BCP - From the Easter Vigil
Rejoice now, heavenly hosts and choirs of angels,
and let your trumpets shout Salvation
for the victory of our mighty King.
Rejoice and sing now, all the round earth,
bright with a glorious splendor,
for darkness has been vanquished by our eternal King.
Rejoice and be glad now, Mother Church,
and let your holy courts, in radiant light,
Isaiah 60:1‑3, 11a, 14c, 18‑19
Arise, shine, for your light has come, *
and the glory of the Lord has dawned upon you.
For behold, darkness covers the land; *
deep gloom enshrouds the peoples.
But over you the Lord will rise, *
and his glory will appear upon you.
Nations will stream to your light, *
and kings to the brightness of your dawning.
Joh 1:7-9
John.. came as a witness to testify to the light, so that all might believe through him.
He himself was not the light, but he came to testify to the light.
The true light, which enlightens everyone, was coming into the world.
Eph 5:9
for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.

Transcript of Rev. Tom Interview:
Time and Date of Interview: 5:25 pm, Friday, July 17thLocation: All Saints’ Church
Detective (D)
Witness (W)
D: Please state your name and occupation
W: Tom Barrington, Rector of All Saints’ Church
D: Are you certain that is your answer?
W: Yes…
D: It is just that I have it from a reliable source that your REAL name is E. Tom Barrington….is there something you are hiding? Like maybe the initial “E”.
W: I am not hiding the initial “E”- I just don’t tend to use it when identifying myself.
D: Very good, very good. ( Note to self: Check out the “E”- willing to hide and initial- could he be hiding a candle?)
W: You said that out loud. I am not hiding an initial or a candle- we called you to help us find it. Why would I hide something that I need in my vocation?
D: Ah..good question. I need to know more about this candle and its purpose- what can you tell me about the Paschal candle.
W: If you look in the Book of Common Prayer, page 285, we see that the lighting of the Paschal Candle is the opening of the Great Vigil of Easter.
On Good Friday, all of the lights and candles are put out and the church is left in the dark. It remains dark through Holy Saturday. Then, that night, we gather for the Great Vigil of Easter in which we prepare for and celebrate Jesus' resurrection.
Look at the service and see how we light the Paschal Candle. I mean open the book now.
D: Oh yes..what page was that again?
W: page 258. We then declare, "The light of Christ" three times. We will then sing or say an ancient prayer called the Exultet.
Look at the prayers and see how many times it talks about light. It also makes clear that the light of the Paschal Candle is for us, the light of Jesus risen from the dead.
In the Easter Vigil service, we would then retell the stories of God saving us from sin and death, Renew our baptism and baptized anyone ready for baptism Turn on all the lights a proclaim the resurrection shouting, "Alleluia, Christ is Risen! The Lord is risen indeed, Alleluia!" Re tell the story of Jesus' resurrection Have the first celebration of Holy Communion.
D: Bob, you are familiar with Bob the Sexton?, Bob mentioned that it is used in different services? Which services and why?
W: Of course I know Bob- I introduced you to him…..The Paschal Candle is used in services that especially remind us of Jesus' resurrection. These include the season of Easter, all Baptisms, all funerals, and other special occasions when we would like it. The smaller candles are used at other times to remind of the light of Christ.
When we are not using the Paschal candle we keep it next to the baptismal font in the front left of the nave.
D: Where else might the Paschal candle be placed?
W: The Paschal Candle is too big to be on the altar. It is designed to be moved around. At funerals, we place it in front of the casket or urn that holds the remains of the person who died. In the Easter season we will have it next to the Baptismal font which is placed at the center of the chancel steps. At other times we will place it next to the Altar so that I do not trip over it as I am performing baptisms. In any case when it is lit, it is placed so that everyone can see it.
D: Why is this candle different from the other candles in the church?
W: It is much, much bigger, it is to be a powerful symbol of Jesus' light
D: Why is it called the "Paschal Candle?"
W: The term "Paschal" comes from the word Pesach, which in Hebrew means Passover.
D: You sure know a lot about the Paschal Candle….is there anything else you want to tell me about it….
W: Using candles and light has always been a way to talk about Jesus. Read the first chapter of John 1:1-18 and see how many times and how many ways it uses light to describe Jesus.
A couple of other things. There are five red nails, in the form of a cross in the side of the candle. The represent the wounds of Christ and his suffering. We have an extra paschal candle that is in the Chapel. We have been using that one for the two funeral we have had since the main paschal candle has been lost. The Chapel candle and stand was given in memory of Harold Bell, Chantell Somers grandfather. We used it yesterday at the funeral of Chantell's uncle, who is also named Harold Bell. We have a third Paschal candle stand, but we do not usually use it. It was given in memory of Sarah Twelves, the 7 year old daughter of Rev Paul and Beverly Twelves who died suddenly in the early 1970's. The Advent wreath was also made in her honor. You can find them both stored in the Chapel sacristy.
D: Note to self: Rector is chatty. Why do you think someone borrowed the candle?
W: You said that out loud again. I thought you wanted to learn about the Paschal Candle? I do not know why someone has borrowed the candle. It is too big to be used on the dinner table. Maybe it is being cleaned up. It could be that someone wants to share the light of Christ with others so we all have to be on the alert for someone walking down the street holding the holding the Paschal Candle high and singing, "The light of Christ!"
D: Was there anything unusual at the scene of the borrowing?
W: Well, I did find this weird photograph stuck to the bottom of my shoe..could this be a clue?
CLUE WAS TAGGED AND FILED- INTERVIEW ENDED AT 6:36PM
