Spaced Out 3
Starting, Joining and Hosting Games

Single player
mode is fun..

..but online
multiplayer
rocks!

Start Single Player
Choose Single Player to fight the bots. You'll go right into the game.

Join Net
Choose Join Net if you want to view all available (hosted) games on the Net. You will see the Spaced Out Lobby and list of available games. Check out the game info and click on the game you wish to join. In you go!

Join LAN
Choose Join LAN if you are playing on a LAN and want to view all available (hosted) games on the LAN. Click on the game you wish to join, and in you go!

Host
Choose Host if you are playing on a LAN OR on the Net and want to start a multiplayer game. You will jump right in - fighting bots just like the single player mode - until someone joins and starts shooting at you. Your game will be visible in the game lobby to everyone on the Net AND on Your LAN.

If you are hosting and you hit the ESC key, you will have the option of booting players and resseting the game. You have the POWER!

NOTE: HOSTING FROM BEHIND A ROUTER
Hosting a game in Spaced Out requires that computers can find each other to send important info, such as "I just blew you up, Turkey!" Unfortunately, routers assign non-internet addresses to all PCs within their network. This confuses Spaced Out, but there is a relatively easy fix. Follow these "port forwarding" instructions. If you have any problems, post them in the forums and someone will help.

1. Click on the Start menu
2. Click on Run
3. Type "cmd.exe"
4. Click on the OK or Run button
5. Type "IPCONFIG" and press enter
6. Make sure you can see your IP Address and Default Gateway numbers
7. Open up the internet
8. Type your Default Gateway in the Address bar (Exactly as it appears with periods. No www or backslashes) and press Enter
9. Enter your Name and Password for you router. Normally, your Name will be "admin" and your password will be "password" or blank if you have not reset it. (If it has been reset and you are not the administrator, join another Spaced Out game and blow something up. This will make you feel better.)
10. You should arrive at a router Settings or Config screen. This will differ by manufacturer
11. Find Port Forwarding and click on it/go there (Example: on one Netgear router, Port Forwarding is on the left side menu under "Advanced"
12. Find Add Custom Service or similar and click on it/go there. You should see a form where you can enter a Starting port, Ending Port and Server IP Address
13. If you see an option between TCP and UDP, choose UDP
14. If you are asked to enter a Service Name, Type "SO3"
15. For Starting Port type "60000"
16. For Ending Port type "60001"
17. For Server IP Address, enter your IP Address (found in step 6 above. Note that the periods may already be there)
18. Click on Apply (or Enter or OK or whatever)
19. Close out and go host a game!
