There are sooooo many configure ship options. Read what they do and how they work before you spend your credits:
ENERGY STORAGE
Fuel Cell - An old, but proven energy system. This is the worst type of energy storage you can have on your ship. Upgrade ASAP
Biomass Sphere - An organic system proven to efficiently store energy. A cheap and simple energy system, it won't shield you for long in a firefight... This only has a slight increase over a fuel cell
Advanced Capacitor Systems – A simple capacitor using some dimensional tricks. This holds about twice the energy of a fuel cell, so it will keep you fighting longer and with heavier firepower
Universal Fusion Hold - Intense magnetic fields compress matter to the point of fusion on demand. About as much energy is stored as three fuel cell units. Remember that quality isn't necessarily about quantity!
Negative Mass Container - String data is manipulated to create objects with negative mass, useful for powering machinery. A fairly powerful energy storage device, it is almost three times as powerful as a biomass sphere.
Reality Curving Hold - Close alternate realities are exploited to store extra energy. An expensive device, this only holds about three and a half times the power of a biomass sphere. It needs more research and fine tuning to bring down its price.
Antimatter Bottle - Antimatter-matter reactions are used as a back-up system for extra energy storage. This solution uses a great deal of antimatter, so it's very costly. If you don't mind the price, it's a good solution to your energy problems. It's almost twice as powerful as a negative mass container. Sometimes simplicity can be the best solution.
Reality Generator - Creates small alternate realities in which to store energy - a new, powerful concept. This experimental device is only one and a half times as powerful as an antimatter system, so it's made for the most superb ships that need the best energy storage possible.
POWER PLANTS
Solar Collector - Energy from stars are collected to generate constant power. Cheap to construct, but not much energy is created. Energy demand is so high that these collectors will not be enough to power you ship after you start trying to fire multiple forward guns or bombs, while powering a powerful engine. Upgrade ASAP.
Fission Reactor - Atoms are split to create constant energy. Once a powerful energy creation device, this cheap, safer reactor is now commonplace. About twice as much energy is generated that a solar collector.
Fusion Reactor - Atoms are bonded together to create constant energy. A little more than three times a solar collector's energy are generated.
Antimatter Reactor - Antimatter is slowly fed into matter to generate constant energy. Generates about five times the energy of a solar collector. Some legal issues are attached to these power plants, so their number is limited, raising price on what is actually a fairly simple concept with some modern engineering tools and hard work.
Reality Generator - Generates more than twice the energy of a fusion reactor, making it a very powerful to any craft. Takes energy from alternate universes and transfers it to this one, directly into your energy storage devices.
String Manipulator - Edits and object on its lowest levels to make it burn itself into energy, a pretty and useful effect. Generates energy equal to two and a half antimatter reactors.
Reality Collapser - Collapses sections of space in alternate realities to create tremendous amounts of energy. Hard to detect as it seems like a reality channeler and DEFINATELY illegal. There isn't any power plant that creates more energy however, at a more than two and a half channelers in every collapser in the same space.
ENGINES
Bussard Ramjet - A rocket that uses compressed hydrogen for acceleration. A now classic means of spaceflight, there are better ways of flying but there are none cheaper.
Gravimetric Drive - Fields of gravitons are manipulated to create thrust. An engine that won't get you going very fast, but it'll allow you to turn and accelerate much better than a ramjet.
Ion Drive - Thrust is generated through firing charged particles at near the speed of light. One and a half times the forward speed of a ramjet, but the acceleration and turning speed isn't quite up to the level of the gravimetric drive.
PITs engine - PITs, or pulsed inductive thrusters, are a more controllable form of ion drive. It doesn't build on the speed of the ion drive, but the acceleration and turning rates are much better than the ion drive and the gravimetric drive.
Alcubierre Drive - Generates a 'Warp Bubble' to ride at amazing speed. Providing a warp bubble doesn’t allow much maneuvering, and you can tell by the extremely slow turning speed. But it's almost twice as fast as a PITs engine. Only useful in situations calling for extreme speed.
Nuclear Photonic Rocket - A powerful rocket that uses an exhaust of photons for thrust. Faster than a PITs engine, and more practical for also providing small corrections - this allows for better turning and acceleration rates.
Reality Shifting Drive - Other possibilities for the current incarnation of space are used to change position. Amazing acceleration and turning rates, but no great increase in speed.
Mag-Cannon Engine - An ion drive that uses advanced magnetic technology to provide amazing thrust. In increase in thrust from this drive sadly comes in part with a sacrifice of turning speed. This is the fastest engine on the market, however.
String Engine - This modifies strings to provide a new, fake force. A great all around engine for those who can't spring for the extremely exotic but are fairly well off. This might be too powerful for scout drivers to handle well.
Tadakichi Engine - A new development in reality generation, it folds a small, fake reality over the current one. Top of the line, amazing in all regards. The cost will tear a giant hole in your wallet, and it will probably be too powerful for a scout unless piloted by a master. Go fast, turn fast, and maneuver like a madman - it's as good as its cost. This engine is mostly recommended for bomber pilots, even fighters might find it too fast.
