Welcome to the Spaced Out Studios (or SOS) information page.
History
Spaced Out studios basically is me, Sean Hunter, and the collective advice of various people who think my game is nifty. Spaced Out has been one of the few games bouncing around my head since I started programming 5 or so years ago - early tile based spaceship games eventually turned into a LAN playable VB game (SO zero and SO1) which led me to C++. With my limited C++ knowledge and love for writing shaders SO2 was mostly a game for myself that a lot more work than I planned got poured into. The end result was impressive (to me at least!) but had terrible min specs, which I hope to remedy with Spaced Out 3. Spaced Out 3 has a lot better code, so it runs faster, does more, and is easier for me to upkeep. At the time of writing LAN play works, and internet play will soon follow, hopefully eventually pulling in an audience...
How are these games made?
A LOT of work. About four hours a day (less now with college!) go into programming my projects. I love tweaking weapons, so I've always tried to include a fun, balanced weapon set. I'm always open for criticism and ideas - many of my friends have helped shape my games, and without them it wouldn't be nearly as fun to play or to program. Andrew Thomas is the master behind the graphics - amazing work, I'm glad for it every time I run another test of the game. Until I BSOD, then spend an hour debugging that is.
Any other games planned?
Spaced Out and school kind of eat away at my time. Once Spaced Out is finished I'm currently looking toward a turn-based strategy game. Could be anything though, my idea for the basis of my next game changes about every five minutes.
Other Stuff
Any game development company is welcome to buy Spaced Out Sudios and all properties thereof for, lets say, a semi-indecent wad of bucks. No, really...
